Coming Home - Schedule for Iowa Tour

Well, I can’t believe that, by this time next week, I’ll be back in Iowa. I think of Iowa as home and I can’t wait to get back. I should prob’ly be packing right now ”¦ But, first things first.

Jackie and I play at Barcelona (the restaurant, not the town) in German Village (the area of town, not the country) tomorrow evening from 7 till 9. It’s Mother’s Day, they’re packed, if you don’t already have reservations, you probably can’t get in ”¦ But, don’t fret; we’ll be there again May 29th. I salute all you mothers and drink to you with this toast: Here’s to you, what were you thinking? Maybe I should just salute my own mother with that toast.

I initially only scheduled two shows in Iowa so that I’d have plenty of visit time, but I ended up adding two more shows on account of the fact that people in Iowa are amazingly kind to me. It’s an interesting bunch of shows and I get to share three of them with some of my favorite artists who are also some of my favorite people. This means so much to me ”¦ but, I’m going to try not to cry about it at any of the gigs this time like I did that one time at Katie Roche’s house concert, I’m really going to try ”¦ really ”¦

The details of these shows are on my website, http://www.bejaefleming.com/calendar.html, but here’s the abridged version: Stomping Grounds in Ames on the 13th with Andy Fleming and Lyle Kevin Hogue, Byron’s in Pomeroy (one of the sweetest music venues on the planet) on the 15th with Andy, Lyle and David Zollo, Bike to Work Week event at the New Pioneer Coop in Coralville on the 18th (which means I have to miss Brother Trucker at Living History Farm, which I hate), and Java Creek in Cedar Rapids on the 20th with Gayla Drake Paul.

I hope to see my Iowa friends at one or more of these shows. But, I don’t really get to visit with you as much as I want to at gigs, so, after talking to my friend, Pat Horton, in Ames, I’ve decided to go over to Stomping Grounds on Tuesday night the 17th and hang. If you’re free and feel like a visit, come over and say hi. I’ll plan to get there around 6:00 or so, but you can come over whenever you want. I should warn you, though, I’ll be listening to Life by Keith Richards as an audio book on my way to Iowa, so I’ll prob’ly be in a peculiar mood ”¦ But, you’re okay with that, right?

I’m very lucky to be touring the Midwest with my friend from Texas, Eric Taylor, in July. When Eric tours, he really works. It’s something like eight shows in ten days. I haven’t toured like that in years and I’m not entirely sure I can hang, but I’m gonna try. I’ll post those date once I have them all, but I know there’s a house concert in Coon Rapids and one in Des Moines. Eric is one of my favorite songwriters. I expect to finish that tour deeply inspired.

My friend and labelmate, Patrick Bloom, has done a wonderful job on the Mud Dauber Records site, http://www.muddauberrecords.com/, and on the Mud Dauber Records Facebook site. Please drop by and “like” us. Oh, come on, you know you want to. You can check out the other Mud Dauber artists and get our performance schedules at either site, so please visit us.

So, there it is. I hope to see you Columbus friends and you Iowa friends soon. If you live someplace else, thanks for being on my mailing list and, if you’ll find me a gig in your town, I’ll come see you.

Thanks for listening,

B
